2020 definitely didn’t start off how we planned here at the Making a Difference Foundation. Just like all of you, Coronavirus impacted our plans for the year, and we are adjusting to this new normal.
By far, the largest part of our year would have been executing on the 16 scheduled medical mission trips our team had spent months planning. We were so excited to return to some of our favorite places, work with new nonprofit partners, and ultimately connect over 100 providers to opportunities in which they could give back to populations that need it most. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the Making a Difference Foundation is suspending all planned 2020 medical mission trips.
Making this decision was heartbreaking, but it was made based on what is best for our providers and the people we serve. When we choose a medical mission, we always evaluate safety. It’s our responsibility to keep our healthcare providers safe by not putting them at further risk. And ultimately, we want to keep potential patients and their societies safe by not putting their resource-strained communities at risk.
We will continue to monitor the global situation and work closely with our nonprofit partners. When it is safe and clear to resume international work, we’ll be ready! Currently, we are concentrating our efforts on planning our 2021 medical mission schedule.
The Making a Difference Foundation remains committed to our mission of igniting and supporting the passions of medical providers and CHG Healthcare employees, to give back in their communities and around the world. All the while focusing on the safety and wellbeing of those we work with.
We can’t wait until we’re able to share stories around the incredible people we get to work with and the amazing places we get to help. Until then, we hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe, keeping healthy, and adjusting to this new normal.
