Me to We has created a trip that combines cultural experiences with meaningful volunteer projects. Participants will join the women of the community, called mamas, as they make traditional bead necklaces or make their daily walk to collect water from the Mara River.
Almost 30% of Kenyans live on less than $1.25 a day, which is considered extreme poverty. One in 10 children still die before reaching their fifth birthday because of chronic malnutrition. Volunteers will help out in the Baraka Hospital and Kishon Health clinic. Maternal and childhood mortality are two of the biggest health concerns in Kenya. Mobile health clinics, education on hygiene, helping with medicinal gardens, and nutrition education are just some of the project volunteers will be involved with on this trip.
