Kathmandu, and the communities surrounding it, are still recovering from the devastating 2015 earthquake. Volunteers will be reaching out to the residents of small, remote villages who are in desperate need of medical and dental care, and health education.
Nepal is home to some of the most beautiful religious sites in the world. 80% of the nation practices Hinduism. And 8 of the top 10 mountains of the world are located in this amazing country. However, poverty and hunger are major forces that impact the people of Nepal. Outside of the capitol people still live in very primitive situations. In the villages where volunteers will be working, there are significant medical needs. Working along site local partners volunteers will provide education on breast cancer prevention, reading glasses and eye exams, emergency medical care, laboratory testing, wound care, and so much more.
This trip through International Medical Relief has several options for trip extensions to visit the medieval city of Bhaktapur, an aerial tour of Mt. Everest, a basecamp trek to Everest, and even a tour of the most famous monasteries and temples of the world in Tibet.
