Youthlinc Service Year Program

Time Commitment: 2 weeks in the summer of 2019
Partner: Youthlinc
Cost: $2,900 – $3,900

If you are passionate about service and young people, and interested in volunteering your time and skills in a non-traditional model, Youthlinc’s Service Year program might be the right fit for you!

About Youthlinc: The Youthlinc Service Year is a unique opportunity designed to engage high school and college students in their local communities and communities abroad. Students are accepted in the program in the fall and work with a team of students and mentors from across Utah. They are required to do 80 hours of service in their community before qualifying to go on an international service trip. Also they meet monthly to prepare educational, community health focused, vocational, and cultural exchange projects for a two week international trip the following summer.

Youthlinc requires a medical professional (doctor, nurse, PA, EMT) on every Service Year team. These medical mentors consult on medical issues relevant to international travel and are responsible for the health and wellbeing of the trip participants while in-country.

Youthlinc looks for healthcare professionals that are: flexible, work well in groups, positive, encourage a service ethic in young people, and will act as a role model.

These medical mentors are required to attend monthly meetings, held on Saturday’s, with their assigned Service Year team either in person or via telecommuting.

Healthcare professionals must apply and applications are due in the fall.

Youthlinc would love to have your high school or college student do the program with you. Please visit www.youthlinc.org to learn more or contact Justin Powell, Executive Director at 801.467.4417.
