About the country: Jaipur a city of heritage, royal cavalry, colorful bazaars, and beautiful people. Many people live in the slums of this city and often die of very treatable diseases. Poor hygiene, growing poverty, and limited health facilities make good healthcare an uphill battle in Jaipur. Volunteers will assist local medical staff with taking vitals, educating on hygiene and nutrition, conduct maternity welfare checks, distributing medication, or taking patient records.

About the clinic: Medical providers will be working in community clinics and participating in slum health outreach projects throughout Jaipur. It is a sad fact – but in India many people die of treatable diseases. Many health facilities have very poor hygienic standards and most locals cannot afford treatment. With the level of poverty growing with the population it makes this an uphill battle for good healthcare. Volunteers will learn about the current healthcare system in India while offering assistance to the local medical staff. Tasks may include: taking vitals such as blood pressure, health talks about hygiene & nutrition, maternity welfare checks, distributing medication, or taking patient records.
