About International Medical Relief: International Medical Relief (IMR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2002 with the believe that knowledge of basic health facts and access to healthcare should not be the prerogative of select nations, regions, or classes, but should be shared by as many people as possible. International Medical Relief provides healthcare to under-served and vulnerable people around through world. International Medical Relief recruits qualified medical teams and offers short-term assignments for volunteer doctors, dentists, and other healthcare professionals to provide acute medical care, dental care, and community health education.
About the country: Belize is Caribbean country located in Central America. It was part of the Mayan Civilization and has a rich and diverse cultural history. Belize gained its independence in 1981. Because of its unique position on the globe it has a wide variety of climates and habitats for plants and animals. It’s also home to one of the largest coral reef systems in the world
About the clinic site: You will set up a clinic side of a private hospital where you will help treat incoming and existing patients. Some of the more common diseases in this area include malaria, Chagas, dengue fever, and leishmaniasis. Other conditions you may see include diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancers, chronic respiratory diseases, and overall health and wellness checks. You will educate locals on how to stay health and how to care for loved ones.
About the mission: Full COVID-19 Vaccination is required for participation. You will have the opportunity to provide community health education, medical care, dental care, and hygiene education to hundreds of patients during the week.
