Making a Difference Through Medical Mission Trips

At the Making a Difference Foundation, we believe in the power of compassionate care. That’s why we offer grants to help licensed healthcare providers bring medical services to underserved communities around the world through international mission trips.

One inspiring example is Savara Etheredge, a nurse from the United States who recently traveled to Lambayeque, Peru, with the Faces Foundation thanks to one of our Individual Provider Grants. Alongside a dedicated team of medical professionals, Savara helped provide free cleft lip and palate surgeries to 42 children—some as young as five months old.

These life-changing surgeries not only improve a child’s ability to eat, speak, and thrive—they also restore hope to their families. As Savara assisted in surgeries, managed sterile supplies, and supported the team wherever needed, she was especially moved by seeing returning patients from previous years, healthy and smiling. She’ll never forget the joy on parents’ faces as they saw their children for the first time post-surgery.

“These children are able to eat, drink, talk, and grow with confidence,” Savara said. “Knowing I helped give them that is all I could ask for.”

If you’re a licensed medical provider passionate about using your skills to help others, we invite you to search upcoming trip opportunities, learn more about our Individual Provider Grants and apply today.
