Looking back at 2019

“To make a difference in someone’s life, you don’t have to be brilliant, rich, beautiful, or perfect. You just have to care enough to be there.”  – Anonymous

Sometimes we think that making a difference needs to be some big change or grand gesture. This is not correct. The truth often lies far away from something big. Most of us positively improve our communities, and the lives of others, through small acts of kindness, support, and love that we give to others each day.  As we close 2019 at the Making A Difference Foundation, I wanted to take time to share my gratitude for everyone who helped create positive change, sometimes in big ways, but most often in their own small ways.

Here’s to all the CHG employees who helped others through a difficult time this year. Whether it was through your participation in bake sales, Making a Difference Week, clothes and food drives, hurricane relief, or just being there to listen and provide support to another person. Thank you for making a difference.

Thank you to the 80 healthcare providers who were willing to travel the world, to provide healthcare to over 15,000 patients who do not regularly receive it. I appreciate their willingness to treat people in remote areas, with few supplies and resources, and often outside their normal specialties.

I am incredibly thankful for the CHG employees who are actively doing work in their communities. I am thrilled that the 55 local grants and Difference Makers grants were able to provide some additional support to the non-profits you are involved with to help keep your good work moving forward.

Thanks to all our nonprofit partners who have dedicated their lives and careers trying to make positive change in the world. In 2019, we worked with over 50 different charities throughout the country.

A big thank you to CHG and over 330 people who believed enough in our cause to make a financial donation. We are humbled and grateful for your support.

Finally, I am incredibly appreciative to everyone who provided their time, energy, and expertise to the foundation. The officers and board members, the staff, and the countless volunteers who have helped create this wonderful organization.

Each year, the Making a Difference Foundation has grown and improved, and I know 2020 will be no different. However, I do want each of us to remember that every day we can make a difference in someone’s life through connection, love, and support. That is the true gift we can bring to each other.
